Celebrity Sue. Uma Thurman Sues Lancôme

Uma_thurman

Fresh off the heels of her creepy stalker case, it looks like actress Uma Thurman may be headed back to court. WWD, is reporting Thurman filed a $15 million lawsuit in federal court in Manhattan today (Friday) against Lancôme for allegedly continuing to use her image in advertising even though her contract had expired.

According to Thurman’s lawyer, Bert Fields, her contract with Lancôme ended in 2004, but the brand has continued to use her image to sell products all around the world during the past four years. She is seeking $15 million from the French company, owned by L’Oréal.

But Lancome is fighting back – the company filed a suit of its own earlier this week in the State Supreme Court in Manhattan, saying it did not violate the contract and does not owe Thurman money.

Update. I Do Declare, is Nina Garcia Headed to Marie Claire?

Nina_garcia_2

According to today's NYPost and Fashion Week Daily, Tracy Taylor is rumored to be out at Marie Claire and Nina Garcia in. Word has it the Project Runway judge who was dumped by Elle Magazine last month is about to land a major gig at Marie Claire. In case you forgot, Garcia (the former Elle fashion director) was fired last month, almost a year after the Joe Zee-helmed creative team was installed. We guessed all hell would break loose.

This could be just the shot in the arm Marie Claire needed. The magazine has faced some controversy and declining newsstand numbers since editor Lesley Jane Seymour left in mid-2006.

Celebrity Style. Ricci's On A Role.

In the miles of media coverage Christina Ricci has been getting recently for the opening of Speed Racer, we haven't seen her slip up once, style-wise. The quirky actress has definitely made some mistakes in the past, but she seems to have finally tapped into her personal style. The girl has been showing up to every major event looking gorgeous, and has even gotten snapped by the paps looking good! Here are some of her recent looks that have been infinitely pleasing. We're aspiring to follow in her glamorous footsteps!

Her best look was possibly her gown for the Costume Institute Gala. She channeled the superhero theme better than anyone, without looking cutesy or campy. Of course, her tiny waist helps her pull of the dress like a superwoman.

Next, she showed a casual look at TRL that was event appropriate and still young and chic. It's amazing how she pulls off the black flared jean on her petite frame.

She's worked multiple cocktail dresses at the various premieres of Speed Racer. Here are two she wore that we love, even in the rain.

And finally, the papparazzi shot we promised. She's caught offguard and still looks great!

She repeats the shoes and jacket from an earlier look, and makes them look chic in a whole new way with the white dress. She even pulls off the oversized sunglasses that we don't always love! So well done, Miss Ricci, we're digging it all!

Designer News. Heidi Klum by Jordache.

Klum_miller

This week, Heidi Klum moved from spokesmodel to designer for Jordache when she introduced her new line, Heidi Klum by Jordache. She and friend Sports Illustrated covergirl Marisa Miller looked fabulous as usual, at a private dinner at the Chateau Marmont, hosted by Jordache, in celebration of the line. We love their model-esque sense of style, that they still pull off flawlessly, and we love their continued success as models at the ages of 34 and 29. If Heidi has brought this freshness to her new line for Jordache, then we think it will be a success! It's available at Bloomingdale's.

Trends. Rothko Inspiration and Colorblock Dresses.

Rothko03 Rothko2

It seems like designers have recently been inspired by the exquisite colors and horizontal lines of paintings like these, by Mark Rothko. From the bleeding color of ombre to the vibrant jewel tones of recent seasons, everyone seems to be taking a note from the abstract painter. The latest embodiment of this apparent trend is the prevalent colorblock dress. It is appearing in many collections for day and evening wear, both fitted and drapey, colored and neutral, obvious and subtle. And we're loving every bit of it. Check out some colorblock gowns below.
